With XP, I noticed the Realtek Audio drivcers do not install from M$ update. So first go into your devic e manager and make sure the drivers are installed for the HDMI audio.

If you dont have the HDMI audio drivers installed, get them from Realtek:

You will also have to go to your audio in the control panel and enable the audio over the HDMI. I bet it defaults to your PC speakers.

Enable Audio Over DVI and HDMI in Windows XP or Windows Vista :

Go to the sound properties and select the

Digital Output Device (HDMI)

as the default and then reboot.

The real question is how is the picture quality? I've been trying for hours now trying to get my 4850 to output clear picture over the HDMI cable, but the monitor refuses to make the picture clear. DVI and VGA cables give me clear pictures.

Check out the discussions here... it is a well-known problem with ATI. Just search "overscan" or "HDMI"

I had an ugly picture but I found in my TV menu a setting that removes noise. It was actually causing the problems. Go in and set everything to default as the picture quality from the PC is already great. That solved it for me.
