If i wanted a GPU + PPU set up through crossfire as seen in the "1+1" image here: http://www.ati.com/technology/crossf...ics/index.html
do i have to "pair" cards e.g x1900GT x2 or could i get a cheaper card as my PPU such as a cheap n' nasty £50 1300x?

Cheers.

I think so. RD600's not out yet, though...

I'm pretty sure you will.

Can't do it now though. Plus it'll probably be a bit too slow to do that good. I wouldn't go much lower than a X1600 personally, but I dunno.

you dont need identical cards
repeat
you dont

qoute the article:

Quote:

This flexible architecture allows asymmetrical configurations as unlike cards can be used for physics processing in both 1+1 and 2+1 setups where one or two graphics cards are used for game rendering, while another card is used for physics.

Cheers, I read that but i was unsure if "unlike cards" meant same model but allowing different brand/etc .. because the crossfire instruction i had read recormended using the exact same card (brand, revision, etc) for the standard Xfire set up.
Hence me needing clarification on this

Thanks.

When will we see the RD600's out? I'm most likely gonna be switching on over to ATI for my Conroe build since more Conroe boards work well with CF...

Who knows though...if it's gonna be $600+ like the damn G80, I might be stickin with my trust 7800GT
