ATI Radeon HD 5970 - can I run it?

2102 Views 13 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  jpmad4it
Hey,

I'm thinking of getting a Radeon HD 5970, but I read that the minimum PSU is 650W. I currently have a Corsair TX 750W, so I'm thinking I might be OK (not sure if the PSU has the required fittings / leads??)

Also, I have an Antec 1200 case. The cards are said to be 1 foot long! Does anyone have this card in an Antec 1200?

cheers
Jp

You better be fine, I just picked one up for mine. So far, so good.
I had one in my 1200 case for 4 hours before I took it back to the store because of artifacting.

fits perfect.

Also your psu is more than enough.

I've just seen the prices for these bad boys in the UK and they are pretty steep!!!

What is a decent lower grade card which will obviously improve on my 2 x HIS ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB? I'm looking to spend around £300.
well you would be able to pick up a 5870 with that much and then some. but they are next to impossible to find. if you can find one though, grab it for sure. should be a nice improvement over 2 4870's if overclocked enough

You are fine i just watched a Video where a guy has 2 5970s on a 850W PSU.
You won't need to remove HDD cage either. It's fits well.
there's one here:

Its about £30 more expensive because they are like gold dust in the UK.

I'm really tempted....but not sure about the Gigabyte GPU brand?
