ok i bought the ati silencer 4, it says "works with x800 series", well the x800 platinum's set up is a bit different. instead of having 1 screw and a snap off thing it has 3 screws, and those screws wont move. u could turn with all your might they wont move at all, its like ATI made it so u cant install new fans on your card? is this so?

i have no idea how else to explain it... i did it with my xt 9800 with a ati silencer 3 with no problems, there are no screws and it looks like the screws on the back arnt turnable, like they r permently installed so you cant take them off

the screws may have been riveted, you need to get a screwdriver and watchmakers hammer and tap the underside of the screw, doing this with a VC though is risky because VCs are so delicate, thats your only option though to get the screws out if they are indeed riveted.

.........and no, drilling the screws is not a good idea with a VCs life at stake.
