Neither is better, neither is worse, it all depends on: budget, the date, the video card, the need, the person, the system.

I think CS:S is optimized for ATI, but i personally like nVidia better...

It really just comes down to user preference.

Well, the AA in CS:S does NOT work with nVidia cards, however, you can enable AA at the drive level. However, when you are playing other games, you may need to turn this off, as it will make the game lag. I got a 7800 GT because it seemed to out perform the x1800 XL for less money. Another thing to keep in mind is that at the moment, ATI makes the best card out there, the x1900XTX.
