well i just ran fraps in fear, and it didn't go past 30 fps, and this is at like low settings. Im pretty pissed, my old xfx 7800gt did 100+ fps on some maps with no problem. I've been noticing that the gameplay doesn't seem that good. *** is going on with my card? other than that I haven't noticed anything else, 3dmark06 score was like 4666 or sumtin like that. I'm about to get rid of this and get an nvidia card. Suggestions? help? will rep, thank you..

btw - upgraded driver do 6.10

What were you thinking when you went from a 7800GT to an X1800???

They are on the same playing field man... if not the 7800GT being better. That's not even an upgrade... it's a sidegrade lol

Well you should have made the jump to the X1900 or X1950 for a new system or just kept the 7800GT...

Perhaps your X1800 is underclocked though? Or in need of overclocking

Yea I'm thinkin the 7900GTO would be a very nice upgrade

Unless you want to wait a bit and pay premium for a G80...

ill take it

although 30fps in fear my 9800pro can do... i think there is a serious issue going on with the card... get ati tool and watch the temps.. video cards will slow down when they get hot..

1. make sure all video drivers in the system are only for that card, goto device manager and see what all is under video
2. take ur finger when the card is in the middle of a game... and touch the card where the gpu is and see how hot it is.. u should be able to easily keep ur finger there for 5 sec.. if not.. get a cooler or something to drop temps..

Considering that the x1800xt was better than the 7800GTX, then it might be a user error Or maybe the card is defective......

Did you go into control panel and remove the old nforce drivers, reboot, THEN run driver cleaner MULTIPLE times?

I perfer the X1800XT personally and it has served me VERY well. Being an image quality freak, I like the ability to have HDR and AA on at the same time while you can't do that with a Nvidia. I also have an nForce board and I have the mobo drivers installed and I'm encountering no issues. You should try OCing the X1800XT and your CPU. My orignal score for 3dMark06 was like 4442 but not its somewhere in the 5100s.

what kind of framerates are you getting in games? 30fps in fear is pathetic when my old 7800gt beat it by almost 4x of that.

snipes for one thing your 7800gt is not going to beat it, its user problems.
Ati is known for image quality. I have the x1800 also and it is fast.
Dont know why you are getting only 30, but it is not the card.

Hmm.. I've never run into such an issue but then again I've never switched brands in terms of cards. The 7800GT is a fine card in its own way but I just really perfer my X1800XT. I would try using driver cleaner pro. I had some issues with omega drivers once and I used that and then switched back over to the ATI ones and all of my problems were fixed.

Look at the cpu. When I got a 3800x2 my games and stuff ran like crap.
Installed everything, I finally went back to single core, and fine. I will go dual when more stuff support it. I am using the dozerdivers, from driverheaven.com.

Really? I dont have any issues with my 3800 X2. It definitely needed some overclocking but after that, all my issues were solved.
