Hi all,

I am new to OC, so I might ask some questions that my be dumb to you guys..
I own a ATI X800XT PE card (ati silencer 4 installed) with default core speed 520 and MEM speed 560.
When I play Call of Duty2 with max out all the settings including AA and AF. in 1280x1024 Res. It runs very jerky motion. I have to disable AA and AF and lower down to 1024 x 768 for better game play.

HOw can I OC my XTPE to get better power to run at 1280x1024 ? Can I fresh the bios to x850xt pe ?

When I use ATI tools and set the core to 530 and mem to 570, I see artifacts on the screen. Why this card cannot be OC more ?

What is the average setup for this card to play Call of Duty 2 ?

Thanks in advance..

firstly welcome to the forum
COD2 is a demanding game to say the least, you will have to play around with the settings to get it to work well, if you have a 19 inch lcd??? then you want the highest res you can run, it will look better, you might have to have the AA and AF turned off and sort some of the textures out in the settings and you should be able to get it to run well, this is assuming you have a rig and enough memory to do the job. For us to work on this you will have to fill out your user specs under USER CP at the top of the page then we can go from there. The average set up for the card would be stock with no overclock, the artifacts mean you have gone too far with the overclocking and it cant handle it any more, due to overheating or just the limmit of the chip.

Hi Guys, thanks for the quick reply..

I am using a P4 3.0ghz with 512 MB RAM. Yes it may be kidding to you guys but this is what I have in the mean time. I will upgrade the RAM to 1 GB sometime this week.. I hope this will smooth out the game a little and help out the game loading time from 2-3 minutes down under a minute..

Regarding to the OC capability of the X800XTPE card, I am quite surprised that it cannot even handle a slight OC to 530/570 from the stock 520/560 even with the ATI Silencer 4 attached to the video card.
BTW, is this card capable to flashed with the X850XTPE bios for performance improvement ? Also, what is the avg of OC settings for this card ? Is this card by default has the 16 piples enabled ?

With the ATItools 3D Scanning on for a few minutes the temp. goes up to 63 degree from normal 32 - 35 degree. Is this normal ?

Many thanks in advance..

oc ur card dl ati tray tools at
guru3d.com
i have found they have the best ocing software
I have a P4 3GHz, 2GB RAM, and an X800XTPE and i cant get anywhere close to the maximum settings, I play it at 1024x768 4xAA, 16xAF with shadows off and textures at High instead of Extra. Even still it gets jerky when i zoom in with the sniper. Id LOVE to run CoD2 at 1280x1024 all maxed out, tried but i get my butt kicked online.
That would be your main problem is the 512 Mg of RAM...Upgrade that to 1 maybe even 2 gig and you should notice a pretty good difference...Also you might want to look at ocing that CPU of your because it is prolly being bottlenecked by that Video Card...
