Are these easy to
Use? Also do I need some sort of compiler for this stuff?

They are not easy at all...

Game development is arguably the most difficult aspect of programming, as it encompasses almost EVERY aspect of programming. Not to mention adding 3D modeling/animation on top of that - this is not a one man project.

Hmm well I'll give it a shot. lol
Yeah it's not going to be easy and will probably take a fairly long time to learn.

Now if you're interested in modding the Unreal Engine (not developing a new game) then it's attainable.
Pick what you're more interested in and really hone in on that - if it's 3D, start messing with Maya.

Ya its 3d.. I wanna create characters
Good luck running Maya on your sig rig though...Maya barely ran on our school computers last year when we had Pentium D's + the Intel IGP....luckily this year we have new Core 2 Duo's with Nvidia Quadro cards.

Luckily my high school had this class...it deterred me from pursuing animation as a career. This stuff is pretty complicated.

Edit: Oh, okay, you have other rigs, you just wanted to put the crappy one in your sig. Got it.

Ya, I wouldn't try it on this sig rig.. I am building a whole new computer so I will be fine.
it will take a long time to learn great 3D modeling and animation. If i were you, what i started with was 3DS max, its ownded by Autodesk, the same company that also owns Maya, lol, thats crazy. You need to get into the actual modeling first, i havent though messed with maya, ive looked at its interface, and they are totally different, even with blender, all the programs in general do the same effect, BUT the big difference is how they name there functions, this has been a real issue for me. The first book i started off was 3DS max from Autodesk, by far, this was the worst book i was given in college to use. It tells you what functions to press, but you spend 3 times your time looking to where the function is located. Also, if you have never touched 3D modeling, dont bother yet trying to figure out how the animation works, lol, im doing that now, and i have about a year put in just with 3D modeling and some books and tutorials ive learned. If you are interested,i will send you some great tutorials ive located that cover the BASIC principal of 3D modeling that dont devote to one program.
