Why is he selling his Mac? Almost all Avid products run great on OSX.

Alright guys,
Normally i wouldn't ask as i offer help to others, but i don't have time right now and i need something picked tonight to email a friend of mine in the morning.
He got a job as an Assist editor and is selling his Mac. He has a £500 budget max, ideally just £400 would be great.
Needs it primarily for editing on Avid.
Suggestions please.
