The issue people have with mods like this is getting the switches to line up perfectly. The strategy to remedy this is to use the front part of the PCB of mouse with the shell you want to use, and the back of the PCB of the mouse with the sensor you want to use.
It's usually a lot of work even for the mice people have worked out. The most common frankenmouse mod I'm aware of is a kinzuadder.
