alright guys, im goin back from my dark side trip on the intel side, i liked my i7 no questions asked, but its too much money standing in the corner...

heres what i was eyeballing, need some help with the ram that i need for it, as i have yet to get into am3. all i need is cpu, board, ram and cooler...

board - MSI GD70 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130223

cpu - 965BE http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-727-_-Product

memory - no idea. i like the ripjaw's but heard they wouldn't run too well with the am3 rig. so what u suggest.

cooler - id like to have a cooler that fits in my goal of 4 x 4ghz (if possible on air at all) no prolimatech products will be used here, please let me know what your experience with the cooler is, self owned/currently owned/ heard from the interwebz.

gpu - open minded, i can pick up a 4890 xfx tomorrow if i should, but was shooting for a 5850 or 5770 in xfire.

thank you a bunch if we can get this party rolling

Memory : I like the Patriot 1600mhz gamer series I have in my other rig. awesome!

Heat Sink: Thermolab Baram. Unheard of, but performs like a TRUE, megahalem, mugen 2 etc... I have it, it cools my x3 720 at near ambient temps.

I'd go with 2 or 3 or 4 (
) 5770's.. You get what you pay for... They kick ass.

Anywhere between 3.6-4.0ghz.

I can run my x3 720 be in my gaming rig at 3.6 with 1.5v 24/7 and its fine.

Ripjaws run fine in amd rigs, they just need to be manually set to the right voltage/timings/frequency and many people don't realize that and get mad when their ram isn't running at the rated speed automatically.

Also AM3 is limited to 1600 and many people buy the 2000 thinking they can get it to run at 2000 when in reality its the chipset's limitation not the RAM's.

ouch, after neweggs price bump on these rams (79.99 -> 104.99) i will not purchase them after all
i think its time for me to find a new etailer, newegg is not handing out good deals no more for some reason. the 965 and gd70 combo only counts for the older 965... and so on, nothing interesting no more, markups on gpu's are now on their side as well
