Obviously it can't be helped all that much, but too many of the posts here seem to reflect that particular user's blinkered view of how much storage a person or outfit needs.

Backblaze will cater to individuals yes, but many of their clients will be media production houses that need off-site backup and can't afford a big iSCSI SAN. Apart from scientific model data, media is the only real form of bulk data these days.
With a service like Backblaze, they can spend some cash on a decent Internet connection, and have cheap off-site storage and the security that comes with that.

One thing that bothers me though: what's the size of the Internet connection that Blaze have? If they get a few media production houses with decently fast connections, will their own line(s) get saturated? Also, how many individual sites do they have? And when will they offer other ways of accessing their service? SSH would be nice; mounting it as a drive would be nicer.

EDIT:

Btw, Blu-Ray is 25GB per layer, or so I've read.

I dont see anyone needing more than a 1tb of space these days at most. Thats just overkill IMO

I for one have about 2.65 TB of space on my computer and approximately 1.75 TB are being used.

I'd call this news. I have 3TB and I am using almost all of it.

You also have to think of all the commercial and industrial solutions. A biggie is storing virtual machine snapshots.

Things such as NAS's and SAN's are used all over the place and will usually cost you about 20k for a decent ready to go package from a company like Dell.

Cutting any costs is a big advantage. That's why I'm building a SAN from scratch at the moment.

Are you serious?

This is a server/hosting solution, not indented for general consumers.

Besides the fact that I could fill a 1TB drive with less than three hours of RAW video.

Again, RAW video.

Anyone who does lots of editing/converting of raw video is going to have enormous storage needs.

Not necessarily, though any would suffice.

As has been mentioned, power consumption is an issue.

I dont see why anyone in the world who does not have some kind of sick fetish or ubsession with porn or sex would need that much space.

I have a 400GB main and a 120gb and 80GB to store my games so i dont have to reinstall them, And i have ripped the music I own and some dvds so i dont have to change disks.
I dont have a sick fettish, or a "ubsession" with porn or sex...

I have well over enough music in .FLAC to fill 3 of your 4 drives.

I have all of my movies ripped from Blu-Ray...

And i have well over 500gb in games.

Heh, I'm in the process of ripping all my DVD's so I can leave them at home and not have to worry about them being stolen here at college. Got a 2TB drive coming <3 but maybe I'll just store them online with Blackblaze

I'm using over 1TB. Tons of people use several TB for their music and video libraries.

Apparently, you don't rip blu-ray movies and store your entire music library in FLAC.

My friend does a lot of video editing, and he has 3 1.5TB SATA drives in his pc that I installed myself. He filled 3 TB up.

Awesome I may build myself one but not quite on the scale of 67tb. Just imagine when someone comes across this in 5-10 years im sure they would laugh at the amount of drives it takes to total up to 67tb.
