My windows install has gotten corrupt somehow and I cannot save it.

I need to save all the emails on my Microsoft Outlook email or else my job could be in jeopardy.

I found the outlook.PST file in appdata/local/microsoft/outlook

I'm going to backup this entire folder, and the program files from my E: drive.

once I format and I put these files back in place will I be able to access my emails again?

Although I am using Thunderbird for couple of years, I use that method when (re)installing (new) OS; I used Outlook Express before that, and it worked as well. I'd just copy old profile over the new one and it worked perfectly.

I once used Outlook Express Archive program to import in a situation similar to yours and it worked like a charm.

Yes, you should be able to get your emails back. When you get Outlook installed again, go to Import and Export in the tools menu, then Import from a file, then scroll down and select Personal Folder File, then import that. You may have to recreate your email address settings, but I can't remember, as I haven't had to do this in a while. This will work for Outlook 2003 and older, I haven't upgraded to 2007 yet, so I can't promise the menus will be the same.
