Backup my windows to dvd's?

Hi I was just wondering if there are any good, free programs that could let me back up my windows, or if possible do a cloning process where I could burn the data to discs so that I could simply restore my windows on a new hard drive if it were to fail without having to reinstall windows and having to deal with getting all the drivers and software again.

You sure DVDs are the best option? To back up your sig rig requires 53 DVDs...not something you'll want to deal with later.
Better option is to get a second hard drive, and use Drive Image XML to clone your current install onto it.

Most of the programs you use would compress the data, meaning it would be only a few, though it would depend on what you have installed (I.E how many games).

I know at my moms work, they use a digital cassette tape thingy to backup their files..
I could uninstall all my games, and this is a pretty fresh install so I'm only using about about 20-30 gbs.
It would be easier to use nlite to integrate the drivers with the windows install, so that it should be ready to start installing applications right away.

Most drive imaging/data backup software costs money.

I don't know about a free one but I use Acronis. I just install Windows, install all the programs that are essential to me and then used Acronis to make a free bootable ISO of it and then put it on a thumb drive.

Your best option would be to buy a separate harddrive, install a small linux, and use the "dd" utility to image the entire other harddrive onto the linux one as a .img file. Then you can always boot linux and restore windows if you need to.
