There should be some difference between DirectX 9 and DirectX 10/11 in this game but generally you aren't supposed to get anything graphically radical. DICE apparently used DirectX 10/11 (11 mostly) to just optimise the features used for faster performance. Basically there's nothing like Hardware Tesselation in BFBC2, at all.

There's no Tesselation in this game. DICE confirmed that they only used DirectX 10 and 11 to optimise features as opposed to, to add more.
 
One thing that is REALLY noticeable in DX9 is the lack of anti-aliasing. Shadows, models, pretty much everything is more jagged.

The only other obvious thing was that gibbed pieces that fly from breaking buildings are a lot more blockier and simpler in DX9 and DX10 than in DX11. It almost looks like they're using.. te-.. tess-.. No! That's impossible. I must be dreaming.

Yeah I saw that as well.
As stated before, DICE just used the DX11 properties to optimize the game.
I want to see a game with tessellation.

OT: A game that actually uses tessellation will likely only come about, in my opinion, when the market for DX9 dies. Right now, almost are cards are capable of at least DX10 so the hardware isn't the issue; the issue is software, more specifically... Windows XP.

I'm serious. In my opinion, that's the only thing holding developers back. Why should they spend time on implementing tessellation when they could spend time improving DX9 performance because that is arguably what matters most to them. I suppose, implementing legitimate tessellation would help their bottom-line too, but the market for DX11 is still quite small. They're still waiting the stragglers to finally let go of XP.
 
After seeing that I can say that I am definately in no hurry to go out and upgrade to a ATI 5xxx or GTX 4xx. I'll wait until games start making my SLI'd GTX 275's not look as good as the DX11 cards. By then the prices of the ATI 5xxx or GTX 4xx should be come down a bit.

Yeah, to be honest, there really isn't anything compelling on the games market that requires a DX11 GPU, at the moment. You'll be fine with GTX275s for the time being. Hell, I'm still fine with my HD4870. I don't really see a great reason yet to upgrade.
 
I do not see much of a difference....

Way to miss the point completely...

The purpose of this comparison was to figure out that very fact that using any of the three codepaths will net you close to the same result.

How the hell would we have known whether or not DICE added any direct perceptible improvements if Contagion didn't do this comparison in the first place? Perhaps you'd like to conduct the raw FPS comparison if you believe that is a much better idea.
