Here's an interesting problem with Bad Company 2.

Occasionally when I'm walking the screen will turn black...but not entirely. I'll lose the world, my hud, my gun and my maps however the position markers (tank icon, chopper, m-com/capture point) and names of each still remain and move as I move my character's position.

Any ideas on what this could be? If it was a video card issue wouldn't I go broke instead of still having something on the screen that refreshed normally?

Firstly you should make sure that your video card drivers are up to date. You could also change the settings.ini file so the direct x version is 11 and bloom is set to false.

It's happened to me before; it's an ATI thing. As above, go into your settings.ini file, and change DirectX to 11, 10, or 9 until you get the right one that works fine. The difference between DX 10 and 11 is laughable, so don't be concerned with losing any visuals.
