First off posting by my iPhone...

So I started folding on my main rig again to get the passkey ready for the folding forum war. And just now the PC decided to turn off on it's own.

I haven't figured out what it is but the 480 won't turn on.
Windows 7 won't load
Takes long to post

I believe it's the mobo but no idea.

Won't be able to help out with the forum war unless I get this resolved.

Heck just the other day I swapped out a GPU and when I booted up my 980x my Raid card gave me a corrupted BIOS, reflash from windows - Well With no BIOS I cant get into windows... 7 hours later

had it going strong again

I just hope its not a dead something, if it is do you still have warrenty on it?

Ok things I've done, hopefully someone can find me an alternate route.

Gtx 480 in all slots won't even post or any power up.
Gtx 480 without power connector will turn on but no video (since no power) but 480 fan spins.
Tried all different sorts of power connectors swapped out cables and everything. No difference...

9800gtx+ will boot in first 2 slots (haven't tried 3rd)
Freezes at post screen unless I press any key and continues to try and load windows.

ask for - repair or regular start. While repair gets me to that screen nothing happens. If I try regular startup it goes back to post.

Ubuntu from flash drive won't load either, it tries but then glitches out. (posting pic soon)

Tried each memory stick in each slot no changes, and all the memory is recognized.

So what you think?

Windows is corrupted, able to boot into Ubuntu fine on my 9800gtx+.

GTX 480 will not let me post, I don't know what the issues is.
I am going to try and head over a friends house to test the 480 when I wake up. But for now I am going to sleep.

really? My 470 went down.....then I fixed it....it was a mobo booting issue

@OP....wait for awhiel....my 470's display went down....2hours of fiddleing later...which didn't help...it works now

Not exactly needed, especially in this context...

Anyways, this problem is indeed very perculiar. If your system boots fine with the 9800GTX+, I'm almost certain something is wrong with your GTX 480.

However, something is telling me you might want to double check your PSU...perhaps it shorted or something, and took down the GTX 480 in the process.

I'm really sorry to hear this. Sounds like it could very well be a mobo issue, but it could be the GTX480 as well.

Yeah I guess it wasn't very good taste.

I think its a problem with the 480 or Windows corrupted itself.

nothing left the rig offline overnight, connected the 480 after resetting the CMOS, removing the battery everything you can think off.

Once my friend gets out of work Ima try it at his house.

And windows is beyond repair, have to back up everything tonight.
