Hello community!

A friend of mine is having this odd problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW94f6WcM2w&feature=youtu.be

Here are his settings: http://pastebin.com/CWPcWstd

Textures are at ULTRA, everything else is at HIGH.

His specs: EVGA GeForce GTX 660Ti 2GB , i7 2700, 8GB RAM

Right now he's gonna uninstall the game, re-download and see if the problem remains.

But to me it looks like low resolution shadows?

Thank you

EDIT: He's running the most recent WQL nvidia drivers, rolling back doesn't change anything for him

Le sigh

i7 paired with a weaker graphics card... people and MOAR CPU
7950 or 670 with an i5 would be better for gaming mostly...

Sounds like driver issues. Has he tried partitioning a fresh windows install and seeing it it still happens? what'd he change the card from?

Thanks for a prompt reply. But i'm puzzled by your quote "i7 paired with a weaker graphics card" you consider a 660TI a weak GPU??

No change of GPU, this is a new PC build, a few months ago.

Driver issues you say, hmm that's interesting maybe a good old windows format will fix his problem.

Thanks

I don't want to nuke it but that's the fastest way to just side step all the rabbit holes you might chase. It might not be the most efficient idea but that's why I have multiple HDDs, partition a new install is ez pie.

660 Ti is weak compared to a 7950 or 670.

The i7 nets you so little fps gain over an i5 whereas a 79xx/670 would net you a decent amount more fps than a 660 Ti.

"weaker graphics card" is relative to what I could've done with the same money.

Alright, i'll ask him to reformat if the problem still remains!

Sure anything is relative, but I actually own a 7950 and his card performs 5 fps faster in bf3, while I perform a few more fps in other games

I did however OC my clock to 985 (no voltage) and it gave me 20 more fps, 7950 is a beast

Thanks for your help!

EDIT: It's a common problem with bf3 when you're zooming in at further distance. I have the same issues on my setup, and a friend of mine just checked, same on his 670.

Thanks anyways
