Wondering what people think of how these two multi-player shooters compare.

Titanfall is awesome fast-paced combat with mechs, and it works... which is quite special nowadays.
BF4 would be great when it works, awful netcode bugs and glitches have annoyed most serious gamers.
BF3 was better, while BF3 was still worse then BC2 and BF2.
Ok, if they're not directly comparable in terms of play styles, would you recommend one over the other because of a playstyle preference or because of some other qualitative difference in the game?
Titanfall has very little variety with very small maps and has become quite boring (to me at least) within just a few days of release!

Slightly contrary to Deluxe's response, I would comment that recent BF4 patches have vastly improved the gaming experience in game but the netcode is certainly not great!

The two games are very different and at the risk of angering Titanfall fans, BF4 is a substantially superior game in my opinion so i'd recommend Battlefield3 and 4 to a friend and Titanfall to an enemy!
I wouldn't recommend any to a friend... I wouldn't even consider myself a friend if I recommended either of them.

As for how they compare, Titanfall is much smaller scale and faster paced. They're both similar in the sense that they're casual shooters targeted at the young console gamer crowd. I'd recommend Battlefield 2 + Project Reality over either of them, and Rising Storm over all of the above (which is basically a more tactical/realistic Battlefield with better netcode, more infantry focus and less vehicle focus, plus free additional content like the older Battlefield games).

I also recommend Natural Selection 2 which is by far the best PvP shooter out there in my opinion... far more gameplay variety than all of the above and it doubles as a strategy game, opposed to the mindless fragfests that BF3/BF4/Titanfail are.
recommend BF4 ... nothing like having a friend over TS and laugh and scream at a battlefield moment LOL

... the rest of other FPS ... boring !!!!
What is the point of recommending a game where there are no active multiplayer servers (BF2) to someone looking for a multiplayer game? (actually agree that Project Reality was great though)

And "young console gamer crowd", bit of a generalisation dont you think?

Boredgunner, do you actually own any of the games you are slating so heavily? Only asking as I had read in other comments of yours in the forum (BF4 thread I think it was) that you would never buy BF4, did you relent and buy it after all?

I certainly didn't buy BF4, though everyone I know did so I've had the opportunity to try it. BF3 was the last one I bought. I'm pretty sure there are still people that play BF2, though you'll have to search at certain times of the day. Not a problem with the other two games I recommended though, which I emphasized over BF2.
Ok, so a slight edge to bf4, but mixed reviews on both side. The wall running in titanfall looks pretty fun. I'll take a look at Rising Storm at see what that looks like?
