Samsung's tablets infringe patents owned by Apple, a US judge has ruled.

However, she warned that Apple needs to prove the validity of those patents if it is to win an injunction preventing the sale of Samsung's Galaxy Tab.

The decision is the latest in a dispute which spans 20 cases in 10 countries, some of which have led to Samsung products being taken off the shelves.

Seriously Samsung, Apple not having the rights to 3G licenses? Like saying cars don't have the rights to the steering wheel.

Only skimmed, but I bet I know all that was said.
If it's been said once, it'll be said again: this is all ridiculous and we're tired of these frivolous lawsuits. Sadly, the only people Apple caters to is its large herd of sheep, and they have no idea/wouldn't care about what's going on...

Seriously Apple, suing because Samsung made a rectangular tablet?

Like saying cars don't the rights to wheels.

I think you might have Patent "rights" confused with basic functional essentials

If I were so inclined, id say this is a fine example of an apple user who clearly doesnt have a clue as to what is going on.

No, it's because frivolous lawsuits and patent trolling is inconvenient and annoying to us.

People are wondering why the Xoom 2 has angled corners.

Apple though has a big problem when it comes to there being tablets in 60s movies with the same exact damn shape.

I think though Samsung was stupid for adding the silver accenting, that is probably the main factor in these judges decisions.

If Samsung can have its claim to Apple not being properly licensed to 3g refused as a reason to stop the device being sold because it's a industry standard protocol now, Apple should have be refused their suits because rectangle is an industry standard shape.

Considering that multiple judges have ruled in favor of Apple I wouldn't call them frivolous.

It's not really patent trolling... technically.

The system allows for such abuse and strong-arm tactics, Apple being a huge company should take advantage of how the system works in their favor, just as every other company has for years.

It's exactly the same as other companies hiring lawyers to find loopholes in tax codes to avoid paying taxes or pay reduced taxes. If the system is open to abuse, companies will take advantage. Quite frankly, as they should.

Companies are not moral compasses, they're in it for the profit margins, it's how the game is played. Not that I agree with it at all, but I can see why Apple would be doing this.

The problem isn't in morality, it's in ethics. A large company that can only stay successful with competition, yet sues all of their competition to try to get ahead, will fail. Unethical business practices (to this extent, as most business is done somewhat unethically) typically end up with you filing for bankruptcy, not succeeding.

Ethics /= morality. I think I've explained this in a few Apple threads, nobody seems to understand though. I'd think there's at least a few business majors out there that would get that Apple, although a large company, is not necessarily a successful company because of how they got there.

Why on earth do you think they should do these things? Isn't finding loopholes to use the legal system and laws in ways they were not intended precisely what responsible people and corporations should not be doing?

This is true, lawsuits that you win or have a good chance of winning are, by definition, not frivolous.

Anyone who says something like that can be clearly identified as uninformed at best or suffering from http://www.gamepro.com/article/featu...-of-fanboyism/

Likewise, Apple spend years and over 3B USD, on the development of the iPhone, so thats not by any common definition a "patent troll".

Tablets of 2011
Galaxy tab:

IPad:

Toshiba Thrive:

Tablet before Ipad:

so if Apple was in some magical way not the first how can they patent all these things and sue others for it.
Radical Patents by apple (I can name off my head):
Patents on rectangular tablets
Circular buttons on MP3 players and tablets
White MP3 players
A Circular control pad on an MP3 player.
LED fans and illuminated cases
Touchscreen phones
rectangular phones
anything starting with an "i"
Anything with remotely similar looking UI to Macs

And many more that i would have to look up. They were given over 500 patents in 2010 alone. Does this not seem a little strange to you or anyone else?

You can read the title, very impressive.

There's a link at the bottom of the quote, it's called "Source" and normally people read it before commenting, if you're having difficulty reading you can find someone to read it to you. Since you're obviously having difficulty I've quoted for your convenience.

I think you missed my point, when ive stopped laughing and my face doesnt hurt anymore, i'll try to explain....no promises that will be anytime soon though
