hey guys,

I have finally decided to switch to a mini itx gaming rig. I already have a Silverstone SG05 case with the 450w psu, 4GB ddr3 and a Corsair H50. I am looking to get the following before Monday:
Gigabyte ITX Board - £87.20
i5 2500k - £155.99

I was just looking at going for the MSI Twin Frozr 560 Ti for £179.99 but a quick google looks like it dumps alot of heat back into the case. The most I can stretch to is £200 for the GPU so can someone recommend a cool, quiet GPU which will fit the SG05 (9.5" max) which dumps the heat out of the case through the back. I don't mind ATI or NVidia. It also needs to be around the same power draw as the 560 as I only have a 450w psu to work with. Also if it has the power connectors on the top it would be a bonus

because of the gpu orientation and side venting, and the fact that the PCB on the GPU is blocking a lot of that heat from dumping over to the other components, Id actually recommend the twin frozr. with a fresh supply of air from the side vent it should run cooler and quieter than reference coolers. and if anything I bet that will keep the rest of the setup cooler

Sli GTS 450 comes to mind, low heat, power and should be able to get 2 with 200£

It would be cool to see it through the side. These coolers do cool very well but it would still allow heat to spill over. I still feel it would be fine but if you really want it as cool as possible you could get a standard looking cooler instead for peace of mind. Just wont look as awesome...

evgas ee versions should be great for you, they dumb all of the hot air outside the case

Yeah an EE card would probably be the best choice, although I don't think a TF2 card will cause problems either.

Silverstones have good ventilation for HTPC cases, and you have an H50 so I doubt temps will be an issue either way.

The twin frozr is not a good choice for a sugo 05 build unless you create exhaust holes near the front fan where most of the heat will be expelled. EE cards are nice, but they will still run hot and loud.

I'd recommend going for a reference GTX560 Ti (or GTX460) such as the sparkle model (which I have and love) - it still vents heat out the end of the PCB (away from the PCIE expansion slots), but less so. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814187136

Also keep in mind that some ST45SF units experience issues under moderate loads. My first one was flawless with an i7 860 + GTX460, but my second one couldn't handle an i3 550 and HD6850 without chirping and causing performance issues.

Imho, on the Sugo SG05/06, you should be fine with graphics cards that dump heat "inside the case" instead of exhausting out back. If you analyze the design of the case, there are vents on the side exactly where the graphics card is located. It's not dumping heat inside the case but exhausting it out of a very large area (basically the whole left side). That's one reason I went with the reference cooler on my GTX 460 instead of one of those external exhaust (EE) models.

You can't think of the Sugo SG05/06 in the same vein as traditional microATX or full ATX cases.

Well my i5 760 gets near 70c sometimes so I wouldn't put a graphic card in there that didnt have the warm air going out

The Gigabyte super OC will dump just as much heat into the case as the twin frozr II.

The reference model is a bit more even in its dispersal of heat (Inside/outside of case), but it will still dump a good amount back in the case.

My reference GTS 450 seems to give me good temps overall in my SG05 with 2500k. I'm guessing the 460, 550, and 560 will perform similar with the same reference heatsinks

The reference GTS450, GTX460, GTX550 Ti, and GTX560 Ti designs are awesome

I'm typically one who HATES reference designs due to their noise and heat levels (although their build quality is usually spot on), but nVidia has nailed it with their mainstream models

right went ahead and ordered everything, went for an evga 460 in the end. didn't wanna make a new thread so hopefully people will see this. I'm using an sg05 with an h50 and was wondering what is the best config for the fan, push or pull?

In the H50s i've worked with, it all depends on the general airflow of the case. A friend of mine has his H50 as an exhaust, since his case is terrible. His CPU runs hotter, but the rest of his components run cooler, so it's a trade off.

I'd personally rather have an overall cooler system than being able to achieve a slightly higher OC on my CPU.
