Will be used for listening to metal, watching movies, and some gaming. Preferably decent bass on the subwoofer but nothing too powerful since ill be listening to metal. Looking for clear treble as well on the speakers. Volume control and auxiliary in would be nice too.

What would you guys recommend?

I came about to post the same thing. My little Altec Lansing 2.1 setup is making all kinds of static and I think they are done. Can't really go more then $75 from newegg.

there really not much thats decent for that price range your best bet is buying used.

go to pawn shops, thrift stores, check ebay or craigslist you can find some good speakers for cheap.
