Best $20 or less heatsinks?

493 Views 10 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  l4n b0y
Hey everyone. I'm building a budget gamer for a Friend and looking for a cheap heatsink. Need something with screws and or bolts. No push pins. And it needs to be cheap, $20 or less.

I plan to be overclocking an E5200 to approx. 3.0GHz.

Any suggestions?

Heard this cooler works pretty darn well, especially if you have some nice thermal paste lying around.

EDIT - Good luck finding a bolt-through design HSF for under $20. That is pretty much impossible, unless you buy used/refurb. Try the Thermaltake store and look at refurbs.

EDIT #2 - This is the only one you will find that will fit the bill http://www.thermaltakestore.com/clp0...d-pro0114.html
I know I went over some on the original price but you If you will rebate it then its 20.00 on the nose and worth every penny.
I am in the same boat. Does your friend prefer a heatsink with the fan pointing downward (towards the mobo), or does that not matter? The better hetsinks start around $25 just so you know.

Well I'm in charge of the build. He doesn't know what he wants.

I plan to lap so I don't need the greatest heatsink.

If the heatsink is poop, lapping or not would not help. I would just spend some extra and get a Xig.

+1 on that 25$ Xigmatek.
You wouldn't really need bolt-thru with that masscool, it's very light, and is very short (minimal torque applied to mobo). The xig would definitely benefit though.
+1 on the xig..

...looks under the pillow cushions on the couch and chairs for the xtra $5, it WILL be worth it..
