Best 3D Graphic Design Program??

531 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  kevingreenbmx
Greetings,

I'm seeking a really good graphic design program for creating 3D models (Of PC Mod Designs).
I have Corel 14 which I have been using their programs for about 12 years (Since Version 6 or 7). Corel is a vector based program, However it seems to be more for designing logos, manipulating jpegs/gif files ect. Mainly just 2D art without major time/work.

I see here, some people (CattleRustler) designs some really cool 3D art. So whats everyone using??

Bare in mind price is no object, however user friendly programs would be nice (I don't particularly want to spend another 12 years to learn to use it efficiently)

Thanks so much in Advance for your Time!!

if price is no object then 3d studio max (3dsmax) or Maya are top of the line 3d applications, used by professionals for hollywood and tv. those might be overkill tho.

blender is good but has a weird interface
ac3d is pretty good
sketchup is good and free

it really depends on what youre doing - if you dont need animations and such, etc

Cool!!

I was already in the process of DL-ing (
) Autodesk's 3d Studio Max!! I just hope this old PC I'm currently using will be able to support it. Currently I'm building a higher end PC, but I tend to go a bit "overboard" Hence the thread. I can't put my EVGA Classified mobo on just any canvas, it must be worthy first. For the time being, I'll be using the modders "standard issue" Cosmos 1000 (I say that because they are a bit too common amongst us OCer's)

For the Cosmos I'll just be doing some moderate modding. Some mandatory (cable management) but mainly aesthetic mods.

I'm planning a really cool from Scratch build where I'm really thinking outside the box (literally). Its very important to get the design correct before I waste any time or money.

Thanks again for the suggestion Rep+

If its just for PC mod designs then something like google sketchup might do the job. Its certainly easy to learn and use in comparison to 3ds max and maya. Sketchup is free and pretty fun anyway so grab a copy and try it out =D

I had a real nice PC I built, however its currently in possession of the Sheriffs Dept
(Long Story, NO NOT kiddy porn) I hope to be getting back soon...then I have two badass PC's!!

gogle sketchup free
and has a huge library of shared projects and 3d designs
I personally use Pro-Engineer; some people think it's difficult but I find it pretty easy

You might want to look at the hosted CAD models thread to check out some of my Pro-E work
