Which of these is better for a monitor with 1920x1200 resolution? GTX 260 or 280 or 285 in SLI or GTX 295? I will be purchasing one of these setups in July and hopefully the prices will drop on them.

Do you guys think that the 285 will drop to less than $300 by then?

I'm sure they will, nvidia plans to release a new GTX275 card in August, and it will probably lower the overall sales of the 285 so it will probably receive a price drop. It's currently at $340 at some stores, so I'm going to guess yeah.

All of those combinations will handle 1920 * 1200 easily.

However the most powerful are GTX285's or GTX280's in SLI.

The most powerful GPU set ups available at the moment would be 3 GTX285's or GTX280's in Tri-SLI.

I really don't think you'll need SLI'd 285's! I'm running 1920 x 1200 with at least 4X AA with 8800GTS' in SLI and it's more than enough!
I could mention something else, but whoooops wrong forum!

The best bet for you at the moment would be a single GTX280 as the prices are going down big time and its 1GB of memory will hold out very well.

The GTX285 is only slightly faster. You are talking like 5-10% TOPS.

Thanks rep +1. By the way, can a corsair 850TX handle 2x285 in SLI?

Well either one in SLI for about $550 the most would be ok with me. But will a corsair 850TX handle them is my inportant question bcuz it $150 or less and a good 1000W power supply is $250+

One GTX285 does great with 1920x1200. Two would be nicer though

If I were you I would get single GTX285 and upgrade CPU (Q9550) or getting proper cooling for higher overclock cause 3.1ghz will bottleneck.
seeing that you're set on nvidia and how 280 prices are going down quite rapidly...

a GTX280 would probably bes best bang for your buck @ that res and nvidia. SLI 'em if you can afford it i suppose.

850w will easily do one 280 or 285 but you would be pushing it with 2.

I think im pushing it with my sig rig on 900w.

I dont necessarily have to go with nvidia but as far as i've seen, a GTX 295 beats a HD 4870 X2 at that resolution and SLI 260, 280 or 285 beats a GTX 295. I am open for any suggestions though

Corsair 850TX will handle 2x GTX285's no problem.

I have seen somewhere review that Corsair 750TX could run 2x HD4870X2's so get the HX1000 only if you're going to TRI SLI at some point.
