So I game a lot, and listen to music every time I'm on. I currently have a Creative X-fi Blaster XtremeGamer and I'm looking for a drastic upgrade. No budget or anything, so hit me with what you got!

You want the Prelude or the Forte for the sound.

Grab a ATi 5870 for the video card
Does anyone know if going to the Prelude or Forte from an X-Fi XtremeGamer/XtremeMusic is even worth it? I know the DAC chip, board layout, and lots of components changed but the DSP remains the same. Would it really make that big of a difference?
Yes, the hardware makes the biggest difference in sound (particularly the DAC and opamps). Firmware is still important but hardware is more.

I've seen scores of people on OCN say that yes, it does make a big difference!

BTW: I just bought a pair of HA-RX900! Totally stoked, plan on doing several mods to them and my HD555's since I now have a fall back pair if I mess one up!

Better upgrade would be the HT Omega Clarion or Clarion Halo Xt if no budget
