If this is going to be just a GPU folder, a good 500w PSU is all you need. The e7200 is overkill for this folding rig, an e2100 series CPU is all you need. The Diamond is a great board for this. Lastly, all you need is 1 GB of RAM for this build also.

E2200 2.2Ghz Pentium Dual-Core CPU - $97.95
Inno3D GF 9600GSO PCI-E 2.0 384MB DDR3 - $112.62EA
2GB Corsair Dual-Channel 800Mhz RAM - $57.92

Thanks for the quick reply, i am thinking about this?
The E2200 might as well, and i cant find the 2180 for sale

You can't fit 4 9600GSO because they are a dual-slot card. You need the 8800GS or similar single-slot cards....just so you know!

There are single slot 9600 GSOs.

Yep. I have the MSI P7N Platinum with 2 9600 GSOs and 1 8600 GTS

A good power supply to power all of your cards is the Silverstone Zeus 650 W PSU.
It's only $70 with free shipping at Newegg now.

For a quad GPU get the P6N.

Also you don't need a powerful CPU, I went with a E1200, and 2 GB of RAM.

Good luck!

thanks stinger. they'll fit alright but you'll have to make sure each one will somehow get fresh air. thats the only problem with that.

thanks for all the replies,

10. MSI P6N SLI DIAMOND 80 shipped pending to OverclockTheStock
^ crazycookie, looks like i missed it

something like that AMD build be good for folding? it looks tempting
although the price of that motherboard would eat all the savings from a cheaper CPU
