I play DiRT 2 and. Use the xbox USB controller. I doesn't require setup and works great for me. I know that some of my friends have logitech controllers and they had trouble getting them to work properly.

If I wanted to play wireless, I would have to purchase the pc version of the xbox controller correct?

I would just get a wired one, no need to worry about batteries, and cheaper by a fair percentage. Not to mention you are usually pretty close to your pc when you game.

Unless your setup is connected to an HDTV or something special where you are further away, it would be worth considering a wired.

To properly answer this question I guess I'd have to know which games you are playing.

In general, the regular xbox 360 one is decent. If you buy the USB wireless dongle from microsoft you can use it wirelessly.

The real fun begins when you are able to buy a peripheral specific to the type of game you are playing. For example, if you love flight sims and tried a stick, you dont want to go back. Same goes for steering wheels on racers.
