I am looking to get and Eyefinity setup but am not sure what resolution to get. I would prefer something less expensive than 1920x1080. My second computer has a 1600x900 and I dont have any problems with that. What about 1440x900? Any suggestions on specific monitors?

Your answer is not as easy as I thought it would be. The best gaming resolution would be the largest resolution you can afford, that will allow playable fluid framerates in whatever game your playing with whatever hardware you have.

IMO 1920x1080 displays are the best bang for buck right now, as they are relatively cheap yet offer a decent amount of real estate. With that said, considering your looking for an eyefinity setup, your best option is going to be determined by your hardware. We need to know what your system specs are. Please fill out your system specs in your user control panel. It would also help to know what your budget is.

I apologize, I am very new to this site. I just added my rig to my signature. I am planning on crossfiring in the future so I can do a 3x2 setup. As of right now I only plan on triple monitors. My budget its around $400 right now. I am not in a rush so I am not against the idea of saving up. Is there really that much of a difference between a 1600x900 and a 1920x1080?

IMO, every single vertical pixel is very valuable. Web browsing, coding, word processing/excel/office stuff all benefit almost exclusively from vertical pixels. Also, 1600x900 can't play native 1080p.

I'd say definitely go for 1920x1080 (or larger). I'd rather have a 27'' korean 2560x1440 screen with a smaller (maybe portrait) 2nd monitor than 3 cheaper 1080p TN panels any day. Personally, I did used to have an eyefinity setup, if that matters.

A 3rd monitor adds almost nothing to productivity (it actually slightly hurt my productivity, I prefer 2x monitors with desktop switching), and overall I'd say the gaming experience on a single, higher quality, larger monitor is better than triple mid-sized monitors. Of course, I'm considering the fact that many games don't work well with triple monitor, and even games that do work well often have FOV/UI bugs.

Yes there is a huge difference. What monitors do you currently have?

Well, there is definitely a difference, some people notice it more, some less but it's definitely there! IMO I think you should save up and buy 3 1920x1080 screens if your rig can run it smoothly.. Now, I'm on my phone so i can't see your rig, but I'm sure one of the other members can tell you if it will be capable of that high res!

I agree with this, while a higher end monitor is out of the OP's price range, this is relevant information he should consider.

To add to this, buying 2 more 1600x900 would be a complete waste of money when their are 1920x1080 TN panels available for not much more money. With a budget of $400 however, he is either in the market for a single 24" IPS monitor, or 3 cheap 1920x1080 TN panels. You might be able to find a 1920x1080 27" panel, but I doubt it would look better than say a Dell U2412

The OP has an I5 rig with an HD7970, so his system could handle an eyefinity setup, even at 5670x1080. He may need to disable AA or any additional eye candy depending on the title, but he has a decent enough rig to handle it at least

So you would recommend one very nice display over three decent ones? I have used multiple displays but they did not match sizes so I have never attempted multi-monitor gaming. I will consider a larger single monitor.
