I want to upgrade to 3 benq XL2420T 1080p monitors. Right now i am running a gtx 680 FTW+ with one monitor. I want to be able to run crysis 3 in ultra @ 120hz in nvidia surround. Which option is the best?

  • 2 Hydro copper titans
  • 3 Hydro copper titans
  • 4 GTX 680 FTW+ (Since i already have 1, i would only buy 3) w/ EK waterblocks
  • 4 GTX 680 Classifieds w/ EK waterblocks
trying to get the biggest bang for the buck and will most likely upgrade when nvidia releases a titian 2 or the 700 series.

For multi-monitors the Titans will perform better as the 680s are limited by their 256-bit memory interface. Nothing will play Crysis 3 at ultra with playable FPS on three monitors. Two GTX Titans will get an average 30 frames per second at Ultra with 4x AA. Have you thought about getting three 7970s?

quad- SLI doesn't scale that great.. tri-SLI doesn't usually scale as well as SLI and you can get wonky issues now and then.

I would start with SLI titans and go from there.

I don't think there is presently a consumer-available card or configuration of cards that can do it. Quad GeForce Titans are about the only thing that I think could possibly be up to that task. Crysis 3 is ridiculously demanding, and you're going to need all the might of GK110 to possibly max it out at 120fps. Titan alone can't do the job either. You'll need a 3930k @ 5ghz or so to drive it and to give it enough PCIe lanes.

2/3 Titans will be Ok, the 4way SLI 680's will be about the same, but games can hardly scale well with 2 cards, so the max I say is 3 and youl have to get $2000-3000 to get it running, get 2 x Titans now and then upgrade to 3, but now that I say this I see it has 6gb VRAM so one might be Ok

Just throwing out an approx guess: 3x 680 4GB cards would probably be the best bet. SLI 2GB 680's can do 120 fps with everything maxed out. *3 monitors you need *3 cards. Would definitely cost less than 2 Titan's.

No card will be able to run Crysis 3 @Very High with playable FPS at 5760 x 1080....especially @constant 120 fps. But I vote the SLI Titan to start.....with the optimization from the next driver (we hope so), maybe you will get a better performance from it.

Seems like 3 stock titans get 100fps total so i probably could get somewhat close to 120 fps with the hydro coppers overclocked.
60 fps* Look at average fps not max.
Reviews seem to conflict with each other.
Here we have two Titans getting 40 FPS at 3x 1080p on high *not very high* with 4x MSAA.

might have read the graph wrong, though the reviewer did mention the third titan was in PCI 1.1, due to an error in his bios.

Sen: Hi, my name is Sen. How may I help you?
EriK: hey i was wondering with the huge demand of Titans do you think nvidia will make more?
EriK i read somewhere that only 10,000 are being produced, which seems like a real small number
Sen: NVIDIA will make more
EriK: do you think there will be a announcement to confirm this?
Sen: Please click on this link below :

http://www.amazon.com/GeForce-384-bit-Express-Support-GTXTITAN-6GD5/dp/B00BJ7AJ7C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1361821392&sr=8-2&keywords=GTX+titan
Sen: I do not think there will be an announcement to confirm this.
Sen: NVIDIA manufactures the basic chipset of this particular graphics card. The entire card is manufactured by our board partner companies.
EriK: oh ok yeah i am waiting for the EVGA hydro copper editio0ns
Sen: Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available :

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-06G-P4-2790-KR/dp/B00BIUKH04/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1361821392&sr=8-3&keywords=GTX+titan
EriK: yeah i already did
EriK: they just go so quick its hard to finish an order before they are sold out
Sen: Very soon NVIDIA is coming with GeForce 700 series for desktops. Some of them will be better than even GeForce Titan.
Sen: So, my advice is please do not worry, you will get better options in near future, even if you are not able to buy Titan card
EriK: hmmm... rumor from what i have heard is that they wont be released till next year or at least Q3
Sen: Wrong information. NVIDIA has already released 700 series for Laptops.[
EriK: hmmm thats very true might be best to wait then
Sen: This means GPU chipset are ready. Now depending on card manufacturer, it will be available in the Market.

After talking to Sen, i think i am going to wait for the 700 series...

Titans. I have this setup, see my sig

I played Max Payne 3 yesterday maxed out, 4x MSAA @ 5760x1080 and was in the 60-70s for frames.

Crysis 3, Very High, SMAA x2, 45fps

If you think you're gonna get 120fps from modern titles maxed out it would be best to revise those expectations. You can still get very playable frames though as I mentioned above.

I'd assume that four 700 series cards would run you 2k (assuming the card is $500). Quad SLI has tons of issues and you'd be better off getting two Titans if you were going to go that route.
