I have the Zalman ZM-R6F and perform very well, other who have had them and other 5.1 claim there good but not as good as some others. There a bit dated and most likely there are better sounding units out there for sure, but I can add they can take a beating with out breaking, trip on the cord and sent then flying more than once and not a problem yet
As good as they are I wonder how the "+" version sound.

The Razer HP-1's are just about identical to Turtle Beach's Ear Force HPA Headset.

I've had a pair of Ear Force HPA's for a few months now, and absolutely love them. I believe the Razer HP-1 has some kind of proprietary connection made for their upcoming Barracuda AC-1. It looks like Razer may have adjusted a few things about the design, but from what I see, it's a good thing. The original Ear Force HPA's sound great, but the padding is too thin, and would hurt the ears after a while.

Other than that, and a modified mic design that still attaches in the same place as the HPA, they look the same in design. I'd easily recommend them to anyone, and might get a set myself, as my wife will probably 'inherit' my Ear Force HPA's before too long.

I will have to recommend though that you get a regular pair of headphones i.e. Senn HD555 and a clip on mic like a Zalman. Dedicated headphones will reproduce sound much better then these headsets. I am not saying get the HD555 they are just the example (I use them).

Also in the last issue of Maximum PC they did a head to head on regular headphones and a headset... The headphones one with the Zalman clip on.

They also stated that they suggested the headphones & lapel mike if you WEREN'T going to be doing much gaming. They pretty much dissed on the lapel mic for anything but a casual mic user.
I am reading it again right now.

"If it's to be one or the other, however, we'd make the compromise on teh outgoing-audio side of teh equadion: Buy a set of quality headphones and an inexpensive lapel mic."
