Bigadv is best for overall points, and cost effectiveness, but GPU3 is well worth it imo now too, since the gtx470's are found for well under $300, and produce around 16kppd when oced. My sig rig took me from last place in folding points, to number 57 on the ocn team in 4 months.... I was impressed.

yeah,

the for big adv i think u need to keep the PC dedicated to folding, to finish before the dead lines.

might hold off on that for a while.

mean while, smp and gpu folding.

Well I had some freedom with bigadvs, was able to squeeze in some gaming during a few hours a day and still finish in time.

Since your coming back to folding, you may want to look at the latest event.

sweet.

sounds fun. i'll have to read up on it tomorrow. must sleep for work.

But i did install smp folding. Is it normal for the CPU to not be at 100% load when folding smp?

see attached image....

Is that multiple SMP's you have running? I bet that why the cpu isnt loaded 100%. they are each fighting for 100% of it. You should only have one SMP folding.

If you're trying to run multiple SMP clients simultaneously, don't.
edit: Just noticed the guy above me said the same thing

Try this if you're finding it too much trouble to setup.

I've been using it the past few days just for kicks and I must say it's worth it.
Takes the hassle out of an initial setup, as well as dealing with multiple shortcuts or batch files, etc.

I only fold part-time, it's just now getting cool enough around here so I don't go broke paying for A/C

I'm not using bigadv ATM since I need to get my SMP WU count going again (so I can get the bonuses).

So, ~10-13k SMP + ~17-18k GPU = ~28-30k, if I ran it 24/7.
Obviously once I enable bigadv again that will jump, I suspect to approx ~47-50k ppd.

For example - "D:\\Folding\\[email protected] Windows SMP Client V1.01\\[email protected]" -verbosity 9 -smp

Will do so when i get home

Did they change the whole deal with CPU affinity lock?

I remember back in the ole Q6600 days, you could run 2x smp's side by side, with affinity lock

No need anymore. The SMP client will handle any and all cores you can throw at it.
