Best X58 Board For My Needs?

Okay guys, I need some help. I just received my new case and new solid state drive I love them! Now, I'm looking for upgrades for my motherboard, proc, ram, etc.

I know for a fact that my next system will be built on the intel x58 chipset. I like the flexibility of the platform. The only thing I can't decide on, is which motherboard is right for me. I realize that tons have people have posted threads like this and I apologize but everyones needs are different.

I am going to be an air cooler so I will need a board that doesn't require water cooling to keep it cool and a board that has a good amount of room around the socket for a large air cooler. I also need a board that is optimized for gaming and is good at overclocking. I plan to overclock but nothing too crazy because I plan on keeping my system for awhile, at least till the next operating system comes out. And I don't really plan on doing more than dual video cards, as in I don't need a tri-sli or tri-crossfire board.

My favorites so far have been the asus x58's. I have read many reviews about their performance in overclocking as well as their great gaming performance and I think i'm sold on asus(I'm saying think because otherwise I wouldn't be asking you guys
).

My favorite among the bunch is the Rampage II Gene. It's got a pretty sweet price for the amount of features it has but I hear it runs hot on the north bridge, which I have heard for a lot of the x58 boards, but I could always buy aftermarket coolers for them.

I did also forget to mention that I am not currently on a budget but I would like to keep the price as low as possible for my needs but I don't want skimp on features.

What do you guys think? Would the rampage ii gene be perfect for my needs or should I consider a different mobo?

Thanks for the help

The Gene is a pretty good board but its NB gets hot from what I understand. It should be fine as long as you aren't shooting for 4GHz+.
All the ASUS boards, except the Rampage Extreme hit the same BLCK, so just choose whichever one fits you best if you want an ASUS for sure.

I'm guessing the extreme hits a slightly higher blck correct?

That's why I love my P6T6 WS Revolution for the OC capabilities. I think the Rampage II Extreme goes slightly higher, but the P6T6 and P6T7 are able to as well. I wonder about the Gene since it is a mATX board.

Yeah, those boards are really expensive though and I wouldn't be utilizing tri-sli anyways so it would be a waste of money. I think the rampage II gene has just enough functionality without the huge price tag.
