its already been proven the p6t is very good..

however the new evga x58 classified blows it out of the water currently. It's already broken WR's in benching.

I'm stepping up my board to the classified also =P
i got a bad p6t deluxe, i would say the best is probably the new x58 classified board from evga, or the foxconn blood rage.

Whats wrong with it?
BTW I would go EVGA. Asus support SUCKS. My first P6T was bad so I had to RMA. It took almost a whole month to get my new board. You can call and call and be on hold for hours and never get anyone. I even had someone hang up on my. I wasnt even rude. EVGA support is way better. The ASUS board RULES but the company behind it is just not what it use to be.

it just doesn't overclock very well. i max out at 180 bclk regardless of my multi.

IMO the eVGA Classified is overrated and too expensive for what it does. Speed tests have shown it can get matched easily and even beaten by the midrange ($300.00) boards. Nice board, but if I was going to spend nearly $500.00 on a motherboard, it better be heads and tails above anything cheaper and sadly the Classified is not! It doesn't even come with an external sound card, with that price it should.

I like the Asus Rampage II Extreme and P6T6 WS Revolution. They both will do anything the Classified does but cheaper, maybe not overclock quite as high but without extreme cooling you cannot reach those overclocks anyhow.

You are going to get nothing but biased opinions, even from me. I always have liked Asus and this is yet another board that has been amazing, so you bet I will recommend them in a heartbeat.

Funny, my P6T Deluxe has no problem going up to 211 BCLK and I currently have it running at 4.02 Ghz without a sweat. If you cannot overclock well, you either have wrong settings, cooling issues, or RAM is holding you back.

Classified looks good but too pricy. Take a look at Asus P6T Deluxe with 16+2 phase Power Design board or Gigabyte X58-UD5.

Wow that sucks. Are you sure you just dont need to go higher. I cannot get mine stable at all from 190-200 but I am perfectly stable at 201-220. Both the baords I had would hit a 220 Bclock and be Prime 95 stable.

EDIT: None of those records count at all when it comes to a good every day overclock. How often are you going to go for the record anyways. Heat will stop you WAY before the board does. Its all about every day stability IMO. I have the regular P6T (Non deluxe) and it overclocks like a beauty. Ive been up there in the 4ghz -4.4 just like the rest of them.

yeah, i have tried skipping to 200+ and it's a no go. honestly, i'm fine with the performace i get now, and that's why i haven't bought a new board, but i wish i could get higher just for the sake of getting at least 4Ghz.

Wow, I (as well as many others) am a bit out of touch with reality sometimes. I have a 300.00 EVGA board that does awesome but think of it as a "middle of the road" type of board....it used to be; for 300.00 I would want an entire computer

Agreed. I'll be building an i7 system in a few days and this is the board I selected. hype and "cool" names mean nothing, its all about performance price and practicality

I fully agree. I did a lot of research before buying my board, and everything pointed to ASUS. If you have the funds, check out the Rampage 2. The ability to overclock in the bios while you are in Windows is so helpful, especially when you are just overclocking one item at a time (to check for temps, max frequency, etc without having to reboot constantly). Plus, if you're a novice, the board is set up to do all the work for you (if you want). On a whim, I set it to clock everything to my ram speed (1600mhz), and, just like that, I was running a stable 4ghz overclock for 48hrs of Prime95 (with temps never touching 75c). The P6T is basically the same board with a different bios and no Extreme OC controls and LCD poster. They are nice, but are they worth $200? Thats up to you.

Thanks for the help and i have always been a huge asus fan so im really thinking Rampage 2 sounds like a good deal with all the features you have outlined it sounds like the board for me
