You can possibly get the frequencies to be the same, however a GTX has 24 pipes and a GT has 20 pipes so that would be the only difference. All the cards OC a little different so you may or may not be able to overclock the GT enough. For instance, I was able to overclock my XFX Gt to 483/1240, but there was artifacts when I did it, but I know that some people have been able to get better overclocks with their cards.

Use coolbits to overclock the card. Just do a search for it on google.

Well what will be the difference in a game like,(see below) i want to be able to turn up all the options and have good AA, AT ect.. while still having a good Res (higher then 1024x768), would it be like running both cards at the same game specs only the GT gives me 70 fps and the gtx gives me 90? will i realy notice a difference in performance?

FEAR
BF2
COD2
Quak 4
Doom 3
Half Life 2

I can almost guarantee you that any online website would be more than happy to accept a money order from you. Call customer service and they can tell you what you need to do, but don't think for a minute that it can't be done. Money talks

ah, ok here we go, i'll try to summarize as much as possible without going into too much detail:

The 7800gt CO or non, cannot be made into a gtx simply due to nvidia's new method of laser locking the pipelines/shaders on the newer generation cards. This doesn't mean you cannot approach the same clock speeds (or even higher in some cases), but it does mean that you will never make your 7800gt into a gtx unless you have some extremely expensive silicon laser etching equipment, in which case you could make enough money converting 7800gt's to gtx's to buy yourself a genuine gtx.

Hope that helps...

btw: don't buy a 512 MB gtx 'cause its ******edly $ right now.

I'd argue that to say in a game that is heavily shader-dependant, such as fear, you would notice a larger difference. And also you can overclock your gtx too, so all this "i can o/c my 7800gt to match a gtx" stuff goes out the window when you overclock the gtx.
