hey guys, i have an arcade rig running mame with a strange issue.

its a p4 prescott 3.4 oc'd to 3.8ghz, 4gb ram, with a bfg 7800gt oc 512mb ram.

recently i get a balloon message saying the video card is running low performance to to low power.
i checked the voltage through the mobo utility and the 12v rail is reporting low 11's could this be a bad power supply? its an older 400w antec thats about 3 years old that was running 24/7.

sometimes even the harddrives wont detect. it only detects again when i shake the case around, lol. originally i thought it was the harddrives , but with the vid card issue, i think it might be the psu, but need opinions before i rip it all apart.

thanks in advance.

Replace it. Low 11's is not good.

EDIT: If there was a "heart" in a PC it would be the PSU. Without regulated electrons...nothing would happen. So, buy a good one and replace it periodically. Also, sometimes, when a PSU dies, it take's some system components with it.

Get a trusty power supply like OCZ GameXstream, Or the antecs/ power and cooling range ect.

Good to hear you sorted it out.

Just an FYI - If you forget to plug in the graphics power lead, you will get the same message. Thats if the PC even boots.
Happened to my bro's 6600GT.
