i don't get it.. i used nvidia tools, and riviatuner to max the fan out at 100%, it works for a second then kicks back to auto control. i tried the manual settings in rivia and still no luck.. can i copy the bios and edit it to 100% and re flash? if so how do i do it.. i cant even fold now because the card hit near 90*C, and that's to high for my liking.

I have the same vid cards... Try EVGA Precission it should work. Oh you may also want to remove the card and try to blow any dust/lint or any furballs that may be caught in the cooling fins above or around the GPU area.

When I use evga precission for folding I set my overclocks to 625/1728/999 and fans at 100%

Then I have to set the override so that fans will stay at 100% you will hear the fans trying to slow down but if you have precission set up right it will override this and keep the fans at 100%.

You may be able to downclock your GPU clock to 600 to reduce gpu heat. The shader clock is most important For [email protected]

Good Luck,

hmm. i will try that in just a second. i have already pulled the card and clean it completely, then reapplied AS5 to core and chips. the cooler almost looks like it is not big enough to handle the heat...lol
I would try to use diff TIM but that's just me. I use MX-2 it is non conductive, has no cure time and supposedly cools better than AS5 so it's a win win for me. I noticed you got some AS5 recently and I did not want to burst your bubble over it then but is seems like your going nuts and putting this stuff on every thing that has a Heat Sink. Any way just be carefull w/that stuff as it is conductive and could easily cause shorts on any number of circuits.

BTW when you took your factory cooler off your 9800, what did you have to apply the TIM to? Was it just the GPU it self or did you have to apply it to the ram chips as well or is there some other kind of foam or material used for cooling the ram and transitors on the video card?

yes you can edit the BIOS but it is risky. I have done it to quite a few cards and have never had any trouble with a flash. But first backup your original BIOS with GPUZ before you even think about flashing.

there was the gpu, it had some crap on it i wouldnt even call tim.. it was solid.. i got it off with alcohol and q-tips. the ram chips had a thin pad, looked like a band aid. i took them of and used tim.. i notice that now the card blows out more heat than it did at stock so that leads me to be leave that it is cooling better. and the temp drop helped me agree with it.

those are the thermal pads for the RAM, just make sure you used enough TIM on all the RAM so you dont overheat one of the chips.
yeah, i did. i looked at them after seating the hsf to make sure they are all getting good contact.. so far my fan is staying at 100% i for [email protected] going on my gpu and cpu with no probems anymore.. glad to get this fixed.
