Verizon’s LTE speeds peaked at 19Mbps down and 10Mbps up during the tests. Piecyk also found that Verizon Wireless’ LTE network was more reliable than Sprint’s WiMAX offering, and it offers better coverage. This really come's as no surprise since Sprint is simply using Clear (formerly Clearwire) for there "4g" internet, Clear's technology is no where near as robust and not in any way 4g, and has never been known to deliver very good speeds.

Verizon's the first company to actually deploy LTE, this is a good sign and sets a bar for others "4g" service to try to catch up to which I doubt anyone will be able to untill they start rolling out LTE as well.

Sprints 4g is like 6mbps down and 3mbps up in Minneapolis so this is clearly going to be heavily changed when going place to place. Also have to keep in mind sprint has lots more people using 4g devices plus clear subscribers count on it as well. Once more people get verizon 4g phones the speeds will start to be more comparable in more places. That being said it does seem like verizons is faster overall but this particular test clearly isn't the norm if you just look around at speeds of sprints 4g in other cities.

This is great and all but I've tried leaving my Evo on with 4G and I was not happy with it at all. Its all kind of pointless really until battery life is substantially improved. :\\

I get 8/2 with Sprint in South Florida, Verizon is faster & travels farther (LTE).. I think the test results are low for both companies, I've seen Verizon hit 20Mbps down.

My thunderbolt's LTE is faster than my home internet, but the ping is much higher.

In our area, there is no WiMax, so yea, LTE is gonna be faster >.>

Just in case you are wondering, i get about 3Mb/s down, that may seem slow for LTE, but it is faster than 3g, at .3MB/s down. Our area is notoriously bad for cell speed.

They forgot to account for the fact that the only LTE phone out is the Thunderbolt. LTE has only been recently implemented so their network is unsaturated. Once more LTE phones are out, they're going to have the same problems as Sprint/Clear

Yuppers! When Tmoblie peeps jump ship to Verizon 4G because of the merger with AT&T that's when you'll see LTE lagging......Just my

Luckily Verizon is actually a profitable company with enough capital to upgrade their network. Unlike Sprint, which I'm pretty sure is still losing money.
