yea I was looking at it and then I saw the 1000:1 contrast ratio then I was like W**? my 32" has a 30000:1 contrast ratio and a 5ms response ratio

these are outside dimensions ...
47" is supposed to be the diagonal anyway. If you apply Pythagore you get an outside diagonal of 53"
51" using the 26" height specified on HP's website

Pythagore:
diagonal = sqrt (L²+l²)

There are 2 ways of measuring contrast ratio, static and dynamic. You are comparing your dynamic contrast ratio to that monitor's static contrast ratio. Static contrast ratio is more important than dynamic. Companies use huge dynamic contrast ratios to scam consumers (bigger is better right?) instead of listing both contrast ratios.

1000:1 is a pretty decent static contrast ratio.

Nice monitor.
