the BT is still one of the best on the market, but you heard right the Tuniq Tower is a little better.
Unfortunatley its out of stock almost everywhere because the machine that makes it is broken and needs top be fixed according to the manufacturer.

Twist the four legs that you mounted to the mobo and then simply pull it off.
The BT is one of the top coolers and the Tuniq Tower is indeed better. But forget about it, you won't be able to get one lol.

That means the BT is best, because the machine for it isn't broken.

Thermaltake recently came out with an upgraded version of their Big Typhoon - now the Big Typhoon VX. Has a variable fan that pushes more air, more adjustable mount and I've read one reviewer saying it was actually a little bigger than the original - I haven't compared the size specs though to see if it's true - heh.

Actually, the Thermalright Ultra 120 is as good if not better than the Tuniq tower when coupled with a high CFM fan.

Test shows 1C difference, and that can be changed with a better fan like an FM121.

My idle now is at 26c core (measured with Speedfan with room temperature at 72f). That's with a lap'd BT VX and a removed IHS from a San Diego 4000. I'm waiting before i post my load temps. CPU running full now is around 34c, but I have to include my new Graphics card which is probably going to raise temps more. I haven't started overclocking yet.

Controller? If you're talking about Speedfan, that's an internet software utility that uses your Mobo heat sensors to determine temps. Speedfan will measure the core temp in your CPU.

I have a very good case for temps - the P180. My PSU sits in a separate thermal chamber (along with my HDDs) - and I modified the case to add an extra intake fan to push air over my HDDs and then out via the PSU exhaust.

I have a Seasonic 600 so my power is solid and reliable, which helps keep heat down.

Removing the IHS from the San Diego was terrifying, but I have to say, it lopped off easily 5 degrees if not more. Combined with a lapp'd BT - VX, I'm getting 26c idle. I kid you not!

There is a little knob on the top of the VX that you can manually turn to increase the fan RPM. If I turn it up to full, I get an extra 2 degrees lower temps. Right now I have it on low and that gives me my 26c idle. When you turn it up, there is a definite db level increase and a distinct unpleasant whine as well. Not sure if it's just my BT VX and the way it's mounted or true for all.

Look at what I use to cool, and my cpu OC then look at the picture below. Notice that I am still running the cpu stress test so 33hr load temps are what you see.
