BIOS Update, "Not Suitable for this System"

428 Views 10 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Metal425
I'm trying to flash to BIOS 1203, and older BIOS version. When I use EZ Flash 2 in BIOS with a USB stick, I try to flash and it says, this downgraded bios is not suitable for this system".

Any advice?

I decided to post here, since I'm not getting much support in the bios section.

It is not possible to downgrade BIOS using EZ Flash 2. Look at this thread. It has good links to help you downgrade the BIOS on your board.

The only thing I learned in that thread was that I might have to downgrade one by one. Other than that, I tried AFUDOS and all that, same issues as him.

You are going to have to use DOS to force flash an older BIOS. Have you tried using awdflash? (it's on the ASUS website) Another solution might be a modded BIOS that tricks EZ Flash into thinking it is more recent.

I downgraded to 1404. Now I'm going to try downgrading from 1205, then hopefully I can get on 1203.

EDIT: GRRR, won't let me downgrade to 1205.

Are those beta BIOSes? I just realized they are not on the ASUS website anymore.

What's the highest you have gotten your FSB and at what NB voltage? I remember hitting 3.74GHz (1870MHz @ 1.55V on NB) on my E6750 but I can't remember which BIOS I used. Now I have trouble geting it stable above 3.4GHz

No, they are not. 1203 was taken off due to issues with razer mice, it still works fine with mine though. The bios is on OCN.
Why do you want to downgrade your BIOS? If it's because the board does not boot at a certain FSB try setting it higher. This board has major FSB hole issues. For example mine will not boot between 1650 and 1690 MHz but will boot easily above 1700 MHz (quad-pumped). These holes can even range a hundreds of MHz.

You probably know all this but if you don't it can be very useful

Yes, I know this.

If you did some research, you would see that 1203 is the best OC'ing bios for quad cores for my board.

Yes I know that. I'm just surprised you have trouble getting over 344MHz of FSB (1378Mhz quadpumped) if I take you can't get over 3.1GHz on your quad. You think it could be an issue with your memory/FSB ratio?

No, it's my chip-set.

Wow, I reset my settings to default, now when I try to OC back, I set my FSB, and bam... when I reboot my FSB goes back to stock and AUTO.

Hmmm?
