Bite the bullet now or wait?

I've been waiting for about 3-4 months, since my old PC took it's last breath
and it's bit the dust and I've been waiting since then looking at new builds and the longer I've been waiting the more I've been hearing about i9 (I know it alone will be out of my price range when it first comes out), new X58 & P55 boards, fermi (kirby), 5000 series etc. and I was wondering if I should continue waiting or just bite the bullet get it out of the way and get a build together for black "stampede" Friday. I honestly am not 100% sure what to go for if I did buy now, but I have somewhat of an idea what I'd get if I wait. Any opinions?

Go for i7. The i9 will use the same socket type, and thus, you will be able to upgrade in 2 years when it is not >$1000.
Don't wait for i9, those two extra cores won't be utilized for a LONG time.

EDIT: Also, it is very expensive like Raptor_Jesus said.
I say wait.
I know you don't want to, and I know its tough, but, wait.
58XX prices will drop; Fermi will come out; i9's come out.
And even if you don't have the money to go i9, it should still drop the prices of the i7's.
GL
If you wanna wait and see what Nvidia has than cool,If not go with a i5 and 5870...

That's what I thought weeks ago. Until I saw that AMD is keeping AM3 socket as their main socket for longer :/ Wasted so much money on i7.

Another thing that has made me thinking of waiting more was hearing about i7 930 being 32nm, but I only really want to OC to 4ghz maybe a bit more depending what CPU cooler I get.

What are you gonna do with it?
If its gaming: spend all your money on a big monitor and big graphics cards.

gaming, video editing, music web surfing maybe folding
I'm in the same situation, an ancient brandname PC with little to no performance. Everything new I try to play on it causes huge lags. The CPU is constantly overstressed and the fan sounds like an airplane on idle. I just couldn't wait any longer than I did (I've been planning a new build since April).
I want to wait, but I'm just wondering if it is truly going to worth the wait if what's coming out later on is going to be truly better and worth the wait in extra x% performance increase
if you want to save money, then wait. if not, go for it.
Hmm....buying now looks extremely tempting

Anyone heard any news on this mobo?
i haven't heard or read anything about it, but it looks really nice. i like the 6.0gb/s sata support and the 3-way sli config. only problem is that it's on the pricey side.
for i9 nah. I mean everyone knows the price is going to be expensive. Black Friday, meh. You should wait for cyber monday where online retailers such as newegg, etc would have some pretty good deals and I believe that's where you could start jumping on it.

There will always be better and newer technology, you gotta choose. Its either na0 or never.

Very true. I guess buying now is better than waiting forever and ever on the next big thing when there is always something bigger being made. Well if I do buy in the next couple of days...to come up with a build now...hmmm
