Black Screen in the middle of games?! Is my graphics card overheating?

I was playing Cod5 and just recently during the game I just suddenly got a black screen. I thought it was a rare occurrence. I played it many times before with all same specs, no difference, and it never blacked out on me. I tried it a couple times, and I found out maybe ~10 mins in the game it always blacks out. Then I tried another game, Assassins Creed, and after like 20 mins it blacked out. I got so frustrated, I just came to this forum. I'm so frustrated please help. Oh yeah, no problems with crysis. Which is kind of wierd as it is more intensive.

Overheating a graphics card is pretty hard unless the fan is broken. They can tank through 100C, no problem.
what is it? its really confusing.

You can say "some" cards are capable of taking 100C and still even then it will cause problems such as BSOD unstable jitters. The 4800 series of cards are an example of this that can take about 80C load.

As for the OP you should do some basic troubleshooting such as updating your drivers, and if you have any overclocks on it turn it down back to stock.

What are your temps? Video settings (in-game)? any CCC settings you've changed?
