Blocking limewire and other P2P on my router

My brother still uses limewire and other ridiculous spyware ridden software on his PC and won't listem when I tell him to stop. I have a linksys WRT54G with Tomato CFW v 1.26 and would like to put a stop to his.

Me, because we share bandwidth. Also my grandmother uses it occasionally.

Not sure with the custom firmware, but I have a linksys WRT54GL (almost the same hardware), and in the default firmware it is fairly easy to block just about anything. do some research, you will probably find a more descriptive answer
Check to see what port he is using on limewire. Go into router and block that port.
kind of a dick move

Broadband companies are cracking down on this, so i don't blame him. I believe my brother no longer uses Limewire after i had a talk with him a couple of months back, atleast to my knowledge he doesn't

Limewire is awful. Comes with spyware and the majority of the files are viruses.

Torrent sites that require a membership + uTorrent. Never had a bad file.

Though sadly, the site I used most often, is still down. Demonoid.

For free, I have no idea.

I pay for access to the newsgroups. I'm not about to incriminate myself here, but the $1 / day (roughly) that I pay for unlimited access is more than worth it... especially when I can max out my download bandwidth of 25mbit/sec for everything...

The people who have limewire on there pc are 98% trojan bait. think about it, why do you think they take the time to share things that cost money ? the answer is simple. its so they can bind a trojan to it so once you clicked it they see your screen just like you do and they get everything you ever typed using the keyboard. every password every msn account every bank login all your paypal info. once they run your visa up and run your ebay into the ground they sell the info or trade it off for something.
I have had to fix several computers that have Limewire installed. Not necessarily due to Limewire, but due to the users that downloaded files and didn't know what they were downloading.

However, if you really do need/want to block access. Find which port number he is using, or if possible depending on your router, you can block the protocol via firewall.

Edit:
Lets not turn this talk into a discussion about torrent sites and what they index and keep it on topic about how to help him or suggest different ideas.

Yeah, aka private sites.

If you watch what you do you are safe.

I know with DD-WRT you can do this:

With Tomato, however, I am not sure. If you look at an Access Restriction, or Firewall setting, you may be able to find something similar.
