Hey guys I am having a bit of an issue here. About a month ago my computer was acting up. I have not had this issue before and have the most up to date BIOS which were updated about two years ago. I have formatted my computer four months ago.
My computer is overclocked to 3.2ghz and had the same overclock for about two years and I had no issue. But recently every so often my computer will freeze up and I receive a blue screen that goes along the lines of dumping data or something for about ten seconds. Then my computer restarts and when I try to get into the BIOS and reset setting, it freezes . At first I thought it was corrupt BIOS or bad overclock but I had to remove my CMOS battery and put it back in and everything is alright. Then after about a week this exact thing happens again. I also ran Memtest and my RAM is fine
I really have no idea what is going on. Also, after the blue screen dump process, it will either restart at the boot screen either windows or the actual post. Or I have to keep restarting the computer and go to the BIOS and freeze in the BIOS itself.
I decided to bring my CPU back to stock settings just in case it might be my overclock. I am a beginner overclocker and have had the same setting for two years. I tried changing a few things such as upping my voltage and I still have the issue every week. So I have to remove my CMOS battery to fix the problem. I don't know if it is the overclock that causes the computer to blue screen, bios freeze,or restart constantly. Sometimes it wont boot at all until I remove the CMOS battery and put it back in.
Everything is fine right now after the reset and stock settings. It really sucks to be at 2.4ghz but I will see what happens. If this happens again it could not have been my overclock. What do you guys think it might be.
My specs are in my signature.
I will also post what my settings are when I had it overclocked as well as my CPU-Z validation
FSB- 400
Multiplier- 8.0
CPU Voltage- 1.325V
Dram set to 1066mhz (Based on OCZ Reaper stock specification)
-Manually at 5.5.5.15 (stock settings)
-RAM Speed : 533.3 MHz (3:4)
-Ram voltage Voltage set to auto
