Boincoid is a port of the BOINC platform to the Android operating system. BOINC was originally written in C++, at the University of California - Berkeley. It came to life along with the [email protected] program also written in C++. Both projects are open sourced, and so we took the C++ code and translated it to Java and then added Android-specific modifications. The result is an Android BOINC client that behaves exactly like the original one. It is re-modeled to fit Java better and offers projects like [email protected] the option to port to Android and then link with our BOINC client

This isn't new, but not posted here so figured I let you know about it.

And HA!

I don't think it has a GPU, so it would just run a CPU unit.

They should put an ATi chip in the phones and let it BOINC away.
Here's where BOINC has an advantage.
