So i dusted off my copy of borderlands a couple of weeks ago and have been playing through the main game and DLC. Everything was working great then Microsoft downloaded some kind of update after which I started getting huge fluctuations in fps. I used to get a constant 40-50, now it hovers around 28-30 and spikes anywhere from 10 all the way up to 60.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Maybe some kind of setting got reset in win 7? I've already checked the power profile which is still set to high perf.

Edit: I checked the CPU load history and it seems like core #4 is getting used A LOT more than the other 3. 65% load compared to 15%.

I really enjoy playing it. Especially the secret armory dlc.

Haven't played online that much this time around but when I made a public server people joined my game fairly quickly.

I quit playing due to all the modded weapons. When people are killing crawl in 2 shots from a shotgun it's just not any fun.

When I do play I only play in SP, someone released a program that tricks the game into thinking you are playing in a 4 person MP, thus making the enemies much harder and the weapons much better. It was a win / win for me as it adds a little more challenge back to the game.

Set your affinity to high and it should automatically distribute the workload to all your cores.Disable catalyst AI in the CCC panel and you should be good.
