The last two mobos I have bought did not include any IDE cables. One being an EVGA (Sig) and another being a Gigabyte.

Guess most manufacturers figure if your going to use IDE stuff you most likely have the cables too (Cause your Old School and cool like that).
Odd, my 890FX came with an IDE cable that I promptly through in the trash... If there's an IDE connection on the mobo, then yeah, I'd expect there to be an IDE cable included.
wait,do i need the ide cables??? or is the sata all i need。。
Are your HDD's Sata or IDE? If you have old-school HDD's and need the IDE cable, then yeah. If you have newer HDD's that take SATA cables, you're good to go and don't need the IDE cables.

Honestly, I'm surprised IDE connectors are even still on mobos. Same with PS/2 connections. Antiquated garbage...
Most likely sata. Not too many hdds are still ide. I see an occasional DVD or cd burner having one that's about it. There is no way around air cooling a case with ide cables.

I'm glad I have a PS/2 keyboard connector. It's more responsive than a USB connector, actually. Just a nice little add on to have if you don't want to use a bunch of adapters if you have an mech. keyboard.

With my mobo (look at the sign) I had a beautiful blue IDE cable that I use for my dvd burner (will change it with my mother sata dvd burner when I have time

All the AMD/Intel boards that I bought with IDE connectors had IDE cables.

Shouldn't be an issue.

Your HDD is Sata 3. You see those two L shaped looking connectors in this picture circled in red?

Well those are your sata connectors, the bigger L is the sata power to the PSU, the smaller L is the sata data connector to your motherboard. That picture was taken right from your newegg link of your HDD.

You should be good to do

Don't worry about the Sata 2/3 issues your HDD will work with your Mobo as long as you have an available Sata port, truth be told Sata 2/3 regular HDD's won't make much of a difference if any in speed. When you decide to get a SSD or a 10000RPM HDD's thats when you start to notice the difference in Sata 2/3 transfer speeds.

As for IDE cables, all recent Gigabyte boards I have purchased have come with them, I still have them all sitting in their packages in a box

Like others have said IDE isn't used much anymore with modern equipment since it severly hinders airflow in cases and just look terrible. Plus Sata transfer's quicker I believe.

If you just bought it recently chances are it is Sata as well, HOWEVER a local shop here is selling IDE CD/DVD drives for $5 less than the Sata equals. So I am willing to bet here someone has accidentally purchased the wrong one.

Same goes for the CD/DVD Drive, if you see those two L's then it is Sata.
