Hello all, could do with some electrical safety advice today.

I'm currently building an MATX rig for somebody else.

The case I've chosen has a tidy 'second chamber' for the PSU and cable management but it doesn't leave much room for the ATX 24 pin braided lead if you choose to install a standard 170mm optical drive:

Without optical drive (plenty of room for PSU cables)

With optical drive (pinched/crushed ATX cable)

I'm just wondering what you guys think about this. Is there any potential risk of damage to the PSU cable or other components with the 24-pin pinched between the HDD and optical drive like that?

Many thanks in advance.

Install some rubber padding on the section where the cable rubs against the ODD, and use some zipties.

no actual damage to the wiring, but your braids will get messed up possibly.

As Desolutional said, get some rubber gromets or padding and put it up against your ODD and you'll be 100% OK

Okay guys, thanks for the advice. I'll take a look at the hardware shop, it's only five mins from here - so hopefully some kind of grommets or padding for peace of mind.

Again, appreciate the advice - cheers.
