I have a engineering sample cpu with 2 broken pins on the bottom left corner does anyone have any suggestion on what i can do with it or how to repair it if possible

Are they broken off, or just bent badly? If they are bent then you can use a mechanical pencil.
Oh, and welcome to overclock.net!!!
broken? well put it in see if it works they may just be ground pins if they are htt pins your screwed

There used to be a place online where you could send broken cpu's (pins) and they would fix it for a small fee, but I can't seem to find the place anymore.

If the pins are on the outside edge, I could probably solder them back on for you. Can you take a picture?

And welcome to the forums!!

Oh, and as Chosen said, you could also try to just boot it up and see what happens. I have seen several examples of people having perfectly good cpu's with 1 missing pin, but I don't know about 2.
well first my friend drop it 1 foot off his hand down to the table and the 2 pins bent 90 degree to the left. then my other friend try to straight them back out whit his mechanal pencil. n it didnt went so well he somehow broke the one on the outeredge. then i took look at it, barely touch the second one next to it n with my finger it fell rite off. i try to take a pic but the light on my cam is so brite the pins reflect off of it, making nothing but a white shinny thing. ive attach an image it isnt my chip but just to show where the pins r broken. places with red dot r the one missing but on the other side of the chip(left). i cant test it out because i dotn have a mobo that support it. i dont really know what it is either but heres wat it say on the chip

That's not too bad. You have 2 options: you can stick 2 small pieces of solid core copper wire in the corresponding holes of the socket. So when you insert the cpu the pieces of wire will touch the contact points on the cpu. Or, you can solder the pins back on.

I can solder them back on if you like, but I have never soldered pins back on a cpu. I have done tons and tons of voltage modifications, which require soldering on tiny points on the motherboard, so it shouldn't be a problem.
hey lando95 i just realize you live in arizona! me 2. i live in mesa

Wow, that's cool, I am in Gilbert. Spooked Junglist (another mod here) also lives in the valley. Other than that, I think we have about 10 other members in the Phoenix area

what socket of processor is that?
because Id love to buy that off you if your selling it

Ill look for a pin schematic and get back to you

also 24 guage speaker wire is about the right size for replacing a bent/broken pin
its just a little bit flimsier though
ya i read over forum about the pins trick only problem is i have no mobo for it
. its socket 478

Well, if you want me to solder the pins back on, just send me a pm and we will work something out.

No, grocery bag ties are not copper, and speaker wire is wound wire, not solid. I have solid core copper wire here at my house already
. And if I don't have the right size, then Radio Shack is about 300 yards away.

yea, don't use grocery bag ties.. that will give you more problems.. Just run down to the nearest radio shack and get some small (12 gauge or less) copper wire.. I guess speaker wire will work, if it holds up..

Lando is great at soldering, he did a few mobo mods for me

I am near Ray and Cooper.

Speaker wire is too flimsy, it won't hold up for very long.

well if its sitting in your socket
wont it be sorta just stuck there?
it isnt really moving right?

and you shouldnt be exposing you CPU to anything that might damage it anyway RIGHT?!?!?!?!?!?!
lol

where did you get that processor man?
cuz there rare and if u can find em there real expenseive

oh and you have the same water cooler as me I think

sorry for the off topic, but how is it working for you?

I get like 24ish idle and 30 load if I run it at full speed
